GOOSEBUMPS
Today, we walked 5km to swim in a waterfall, the most beautiful one I have ever seen…
Our hike, usually done on horseback, was a bit arduous by foot, especially for the kids but we wanted to walk it, unsure of Leeloo’s ability to sit atop another animal for hours, she a MonkeyFrog you see, and she needs to jump and cartwheel every so often. So, going up and down very steep hills for a couple of hours was tough but beautiful…
A friendly face greeted our sweaty selves at the entrance of the waterfall section, because if you can monetize, you should monetize! He told us vale la pena! (it’s worth it!) and he wasn’t wrong.
A few minutes later, we arrived…
That kind of arrival, through the humblest of paths, was unexpected, just astounding. The Nauyaca Waterfalls are not just beautiful but spark a sudden urge to strip down and jump, which is what we did…
We swam against the currents, we jumped from the slippery rocks, almost rendered unconscious by the weight of the water falling hard on our heads, we felt like the first people there. Until more of them showed up.
If you can, shower in Costa Rican waterfalls, your chakras will thank you.
