SO MUCH GOLD
I’m not a big fan of museums, or learning, or culture for that matter but I must admit to having been agreeably surprised by the very entertaining and well-curated Museo Del Oro, yet another under the seemingly able tutelage of the Banco De La Republica.
The collection and the way it is presented is wonderful and contains pieces I had never seen before, especially having been to the lackluster Museo Del Oro in San José, Costa Rica.
The last exhibit, in which you are taken through a dark room to experience the sights and sounds of ancient pre-Colombian gold miners and jewelers and finally feel why gold has always been so omnipresent and important to South American culture is worth the whole trip. Do it.
